FALCONS ADD GOALTENDER MACHESNEY TO TRAINING CAMP ROSTER
Springfield, Mass. - The Springfield Falcons, AHL affiliate of the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets, announced on Saturday that they have added goaltender Daren Machesney to their training camp roster under a professional tryout agreement.

A seventh-year pro, Machesney played the majority of the 2011-2012 season with South Carolina, participating in 20 contests with the ECHL's Stingrays while skating in three games with the Hershey Bears prior to suffering a season-ending injury. After beginning 2010-2011 with Springfield, Machesney traveled through four other clubs, playing a total of seven games in the AHL with the Falcons and the Worcester Sharks while seeing game action 19 times in the ECHL with the Elmira Jackals, Reading Royals, and Victoria Salmon Kings. The Hamilton, Ontario native spent all of 2009-2010 with the Manitoba Moose after skating most of his first three professional campaigns from 2006 to 2009 with Hershey. He received ice time in 35 games with the Bears during their Calder Cup championship season of 2008-2009.
In 115-career AHL outings, Machesney has a 51-44-6 record with a .894 save percentage and a 3.24 goals-against average. The 25-year-old has a mark of 21-32-2 in 57 AHL contests with a .897 save percentage and a 3.20 goals-against average.
Prior to turning pro, Machesney played parts of three seasons from 2003 to 2006 with the OHL's Brampton Battalion. He was selected by the Washington Capitals in the fifth round (143rd overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
The Falcons open up the regular season Saturday, Oct. 13, when they welcome the St. John's IceCaps to Springfield at 7:00 p.m. Single-game tickets for 2012-2013 are on sale now and can be purchased at the MassMutual Center 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, or by logging onto Ticketmaster.com.
